John Bonello has been practising as an Advocate in the Maltese Courts of Justice and Tribunals since 2006, during which time he has gained extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation. Additionally, he has furthered his studies in the field of international maritime law and has been deeply involved in shipping, family, public procurement, property, real estate and succession and inheritance law.

Until recently, John held the office of Secretary of the Malta Resources Authority which has contributed towards his knowledge on matters related to oil exploration, the environment, energy and climate change. He sat on the board of directors within a major telecommunications company at the early stages of his career, and has since advised major government and private agencies on matters relating to business promotion, public procurement and more.  He is well-versed in the area of property law which spreads across a wide range of issues such as leases, property conveyance, planning permits as well as contractual rights and obligations.

Additionally, John also acts as an examiner at the Faculty of Laws of the University of Malta. He is a member of the Chamber of Advocates, Malta.
